Every Wednesday in February (4th,
11th, 18th and 25th) is a student-free day for
prep students. On this day the prep teachers will be conducting one-on-one
interviews with prep students from their home group. They will be completing an
English online and a Maths online interview, which takes a full hour. The
interview is a mandated requirement from the Department of Education and helps
to inform the teachers of the individual learning needs of each child and track
their progress throughout the year. The
children will be guided through a number of gentle activities, which will allow
them to show their current understandings.
It is timely to remind parents that
children will come to school with varying degrees of readiness to learn in
different areas of the curriculum. Our goal is to build a sense of community
and belonging for each child and to nurture a love of learning. Our aim is to
avoid any anxiety for the child around performance.
We have placed booking sheets on the
Parent Notice Board for parents to book in a time for their child to have a
one-on-one interview with their home group teacher. Please find a time slot as
soon as you can and as interviews begin this week and we need the booking
sheets filled in by Tuesday afternoon. Parents are not part of the interview
process but may wait in the courtyard or grab a coffee at a local café during
the hour. Please arrive on time to ensure that each child has the full
interview time that they are allocated.
If you have any questions, feel free to
ask, Maddy, Elizabeth or Hilary.
