Dear parents/carers,
As a part of our current inquiry, we are
looking into ‘spaces’, exploring our school environment and discovering how we
connect with these spaces in different ways. We are looking at different spaces
around the school and how we feel or react to those environments. We would like
to make a connection with the children’s home lives in order to compare spaces
we see at school and at home.
To do this, we are asking each prep child
to bring in a photo, object, drawing or
video of a space at home that is important to them. We will be creating a
‘space’ mural to display and reflect on all the different types of special
spaces and what makes them special. For example, a child might bring in special
‘space’ drawing or photo of their drawing desk, inside their cubby, a tree in
the garden, their toy box…
The children will be asked to share their
space with a group and explain why this space is special to them.
We encourage parents to have a conversation
with their child about their choice of space as this will prepare them for
their sharing time.
As preps come in with their photo/drawing,
they will be given the opportunity to share this. We would like all ‘space’
sharing to be brought in before Friday 19th February.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask
one of the prep team.
Thank you,
Hilary, Elizabeth and Maddy.
