Caine's Arcade and construction!

The Prep neighbourhood watched the short documentary 'Caine's Arcade' which was about a boy who transformed his dad's garage, changing the space with boxes and building his own cardboard arcade shop.

The preps have been inquiring into spaces and places that we can relate to or that are special to us. After watching the film, we asked the preps "What would you make out of boxes if you had an empty garage space?"
The children used unifix to build what they would like in their 'garage' space. There were many ideas such as a castle, a farmyard, a tower, a swimming pool and the whole world!

We then explored counting how many boxes we used. Some preps even helped to see how many boxes fit into the whole garage space! We discovered that 320 fit into the rectangle 'garage'.

Well done preps!
